Bridge Approach Roads Set For Facelift

26 June 2015

A Smoother Approach

26 June 2015

Motorists can look forward to a smoother approach to the Forth Road Bridge, with operating company Amey about to embark on a busy programme of road repairs.

Beginning on the night of 29 June and concluding on the night of Thursday 23 July, repairs to potholes and other defects will be carried out at Echline Junction and Scotstoun Junction south of the bridge, and on the M90 north of the Forth Road Bridge.

All of these works will be carried out overnight between 20:00 and 06:00 and are not expected to cause significant disruption to traffic. Work will be suspended during the weekends of T in the Park and The Open at St Andrews.

Under the terms of the Forth Bridges Operating Contract, Amey is responsible for the approach roads on both sides of the Forth from M9 Junction 1A at Kirkliston to M90 Junction 3 at Halbeath, as well as the Forth Road Bridge and the Queensferry Crossing when it opens. The contract commenced on 1 June 2015 and will run for five years with scope for extending up to a maximum of ten years.

Mark Arndt, Operating Company Representative, said: “We’re delighted to have secured agreement and funding to carry out these repairs and we’re looking forward to getting the job done so that road users feel the benefits.”
