Forth Bridge Fundraising Events

Charities Benefit from Fundraising Events at the Forth Bridge

The iconic Forth Bridge has once again hosted two exciting charity events, helping to raise much needed funds for charities in Scotland.

Barnardo’s ‘Your View’ event was once again a sell-out, giving visitors the chance to stand atop the Forth Bridge and enjoy uninterrupted views of the Edinburgh and Fife coastline.  The event took place between Friday 22 and Sunday 24 September.

Around 900 visitors were welcomed to the experience throughout the weekend, with more than 40 volunteers from Network Rail, Balfour Beatty, The Briggers and Barnardo’s working to run the event behind the scenes.

This year’s activities raised over £53k for Barnardo’s Scotland to support the charity’s work.

Meanwhile, the southern approach to the Forth Bridge played host to the thrilling Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland abseil.

Over 600 participants signed up to abseil 165 feet from the bridge onto the sandy beach below, on what was the 20th anniversary of the iconic event.

The event is run by Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland, in partnership with Network Rail and Balfour Beatty.

This year, the event raised over £100k for Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland and a further £180k across 33 other charities.
