Overnight Surfacing Works at M90 Junction 3 Northbound Off-Slip

9 June 2021

Improved Road Surface

9 June 2021

Motorists using the northbound off-slip at M90 Junction 3 Halbeath are set to benefit from an improved road surface, with Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland planning to renew approximately 70 metres of the slip road with High Friction Surfacing over two nights, beginning on Monday 14 June.

For the safety of workers and road users, the M90 Junction 3 northbound off-slip will be closed from 20:30 until 06:00 on the nights of 14 and 15 June.

During these closures, a diversion route for northbound traffic will be signposted via the M90 to Junction 4, turning to re-join the M90 southbound then exiting at Junction 3 via the southbound off-slip. This diversion will add an estimated 9 minutes and 7.3 miles to affected journeys. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Strict physical distancing protocols, in line with Scottish Government guidance, are in place to protect teams and ensure they remain safe on site.

Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These surfacing improvements will significantly improve safety and ride quality for motorists on this slip road.

“It is essential for the safety of workers and road users that we close the road during these works, however we’ve planned them to take place overnight to minimise disruption.

“We thank motorists in advance for their patience and encourage them to plan ahead by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information.”
