Scotland's UNESCO Trail

The Forth Bridge is part of the multi award winning Scotland's UNESCO Trail. UNESCO recognises and conserves the world’s most special places.

Named in Rough Guides’ 24 Best Destinations to Visit in 2024, the trail takes in 13 UNESCO sites. Each reveals something unique and globally significant about the way we perceive our story as both a species and a planet.

Scotland has six World Heritage Sites, two Biosphere Reserves, two Global Geoparks and three creative cities. Not bad for a wee country the size of Scotland!

If you’ve enjoyed the Forth Bridge UNESCO site, why not plan a trip to other sites on the UNESCO Trail?

You’re right on the doorstep of the Edinburgh UNESCO City of Literature and the Old and New Towns of Edinburgh UNESCO World Heritage Site. Dundee UNESCO City of Design is but an hour away (ish) by the scenic coastal road.

VisitScotland has produced a series of itineraries to cover the entire trail in six journeys from Edinburgh. Or for shorter trips, there are ideas for family trips, last-minute trips or trips by location. Take a look at the vide below for more information!

Be Inspired!
