Access RestrictionsThe great thing about visiting the bridges is that you can bring your four legged friend for a wee sniff and a walk and enjoy a meal or drink in one of the many dog friendly cafes and pubs.
The following activities are Fido friendly:
This circular, 5 mile route is outdoors and suitable for dogs. And, if you'd like to experience a train ride across the bridge, or a boat trip under the bridges, dogs are welcome on trains and boats provided they are well behaved and on leads.
This lovely coastal walk is open all year round and dogs are permitted. If you go as far as Cramond Island, dogs need to be on leads to protect nesting birds. The route is popular with dog walkers so expect to meet other dogs along the way. (Always check the tides before starting off!)
Open during the spring and summer, the grounds at Hopetoun are the perfect place to watch and enjoy wildlife. From quiet woodland corners to the beautiful spring garden, there is always something to look out for. Dogs are welcome but must be on leads at all times.
The world’s smallest working light tower and Scotland’s smallest museum can be found together at the head of John Rennie’s Town Pier in North Queensferry. Both are small enough that you can leave your dog tethered in sight whilst exploring. If you get peckish, Rankin's Cafe allows dogs outside and will always provide a bowl of water.
This is a dogwalkers delight with plenty of open space as you walk along this beautiful stretch of coast. The North Queensferry to Burntisland leg takes roughly 4.5 - 5.5 hours and will take you through Aberdour with with its art galleries, harbour and sandy beach. Once you reach Burntisland, you can refuel at one of several dog friendly cafes and catch the train back to the bridges.
