Knockhill Racing Circuit & Vintage Bus Museum

Near North Queensferry

Modern & Vintage Vehicles

Knockhill Racing Circuit, Scotland’s National Motorsport Centre, is home to some of the UK’s top televised motorsport car and bike events.

The centre also offers karting, track days, driving experiences, and motorsport and entertainment events.

Originally a sheep farm, Knockhill opened in 1974. Since then, many racing stars (including Allan McNish & David Coulthard) and spectators have passed through its gates.

As Scotland’s only accredited FIA and Motorsport UK-approved venue, Knockhill boasts a demanding 1.27-mile-long circuit with a unique series of twists, drops and climbs varying by around 200ft (60m) from highest to lowest point. It is also home to a hillside rally stage, and a 1,640ft (500m) outdoor karting circuit.

Track Racing

Knockhill is unique as the only track in the world that can operate clockwise and anticlockwise. This means that weekend meets are varied as the track changes direction for the second day.

Visitors to Knockhill can enjoy bike racing, car racing, show events and rallying. Highlights include the Bennetts British Superbike Championship, the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship and the McRae Rally Challenge.

Tickets can be purchased in advance but are usually also available on the day.

Driving Experiences

For thrill-seekers, there are a number of driving experiences, including for teens. Take your pick from supercars, performance cars or classics. You can also book on to a range of car and bike track days, and all the family can enjoy whizzing around the track on a go-kart. The on-site Kinnaird’s Bistro offers a good range of food for refuelling!

Scottish Vintage Bus Museum

From Knockhill, it’s just 3 miles to the Scottish Vintage Bus Museum which houses over 100 buses, as well as trains, a horse tram, and other exhibits. Open on Sundays from April to October, the museum has a large exhibition hall and offers tours by vintage bus. It hosts several  special events featuring visiting vehicles. There is a café and shop.

From Farm to Racing Circuit

History

Knockhill was developed by local farmer and motorbike racing fan Tom Kinnaird. He had to travel long distances to events so wanted to see motorsports nearer to home. His farmland was the solution and Knockhill was born!
